The 28th National Championship for Visually Impaired Bowlers, held at Cheltenham Bowling Club, produced a win for Geoff Wherry from St Austell.
Geoff has been playing bowls for only 4 years, and has previously competed for England at rifle shooting.
After being beaten badly in a previous tournament, Geoff was determined to do better and after a lot of hard work and practice came out trumps at this years Nationals. Although Geoff is aided by his Guide Dog on a daily basis, he relies on human helpers when he's bowling.
Geoff was introduced to Bowls through the Social Services. Other sports Geoff is currently undertaking include skiing.
